HAWKINSVILLE - Jeremy Marshall rushed 27 times for 140 yards and one touchdown as Hawkinsville won its first state Class A high school football championship by defeating top-ranked Lincoln County 18-8 Saturday night.<br>

Marshall rushed 10 times for 91 yards in the fourth quarter, as Hawkinsville improved to 15-0.<br>

Quarterback Todd Coley completed 8-of-15 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, both to wide receiver Philanzee Lawson.<br>

Hawkinsville's defense held Lincoln County to 119 total yards and forced four turnovers.<br>

For Lincoln County (14-1), its lone touchdown came in the third quarter on Shawntavius Jennings' 26-yard run. The team completed a two-point conversion.<br>

The victory was extra sweet for Hawkinsville, whose coach, Lee Campbell, underwent surgery in April to remove a benign brain tumor.
