Flu vaccine expected in Georgia this week

ATLANTA - New doses of the flu vaccine are expected in Georgia this week.<br> <br> Georgia is purchasing 100,000 doses of the vaccine from a private Arkansas vendor in a $1.65 million deal.<br> <br> The markup on the shots is more than double what the vaccine would have cost before the flu season started. It&#39;s also double what the government recently paid for additional flu shots for states.<br> <br> A spokesman for the Georgia Division of Public Health - Richard Quartarone - says the shots will be made available before Christmas. <br> <br> The state is buying 10,000 vials of vaccine for a price of $16.50 cents a shot. Earlier this flu season, health departments typically bought the shots for about $8 a dose.
