Raptors 99, Hawks 97, OT

<p>Vince Carter hit a jumper with 1.2 seconds left, part of a season-high 43 points, and the Toronto Raptors rallied to beat the Atlanta Hawks 99-97 in overtime Wednesday night.</p><p>Carter took an inbound pass from Alvin Williams, then shot from about 17 feet over Dion Glover and Theo Ratliff. The ball swished through, giving Toronto its second road victory of the season.</p><p>Glover ended up going through the legs of Torontos Antonio Davis while trying to stop Carter.</p><p>Carter forced overtime with a three-point play with 13.2 seconds left in regulation. He hit a twirling, over-the-shoulder layup over Glover and was fouled. His free throw tied it for the first time after the Hawks led throughout.</p><p>On the other end, Carter blocked a layup by Jason Terry, then recovered the ball and called timeout. Morris Peterson missed an off-balance shot from the corner at the buzzer.</p><p>Chris Bosh added 17 points for the Raptors.</p><p>Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored a season-high 30 for the Hawks, who lost for the third time in the past four games.</p><p>Carters previous best was 39 in the season opener against New Jersey. With the Raptors trailing 94-93 in overtime, Carter hit a jumper for the lead, then lofted a high-arching shot over Ratliff on the next trip to make it 97-94.</p><p>Jacque Vaughn brought the Hawks within one with a jumper, and Glover had a chance to put them ahead when he was fouled by Davis.</p><p>But Glover missed the first of two free throws before making the second, setting up Carters final shot.</p><p>Atlanta was without starter Stephen Jackson, who sprained an ankle in warmups. Rookie Boris Diaw got his first start in Jacksons place and played a season-high 34 minutes.</p><p>The Hawks opened a 16-point lead late in the second quarter, but Toronto cut it to nine at the break. The margin was 12 early in the third before seven straight points by Carter made it 52-47.</p><p>Notes:@ Carter scored at least 40 points for the 12th time in his career. ... Jackson sat on the end of the bench in uniform for most of the game, but left before overtime. ... After scoring 90 points in a season-opening victory over New Jersey, the Raptors havent had more than 89 in regulation. They beat Houston 101-97 in double overtime earlier this month. ... Carter has led Toronto in scoring in 13 of 14 games.</p>
