Services Saturday for son of longtime Mississippi legislator

<p>Funeral services are Saturday in Gulfport for Isiah Chuck Fredericks Jr., the son of longtime Mississippi state Rep. Frances Fredericks.</p><p>Chuck Fredericks, who was 47 and a Biloxi native, died Monday in an Atlanta hospital after being injured in a car accident the previous weekend.</p><p>Services are noon Saturday at St. John Baptist Church in Gulfport. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Gardens in Gulfport.</p><p>I thank God for giving me four children I had the opportunity to love and nurture, Frances Fredericks said Thursday. Now, Im having to deal with the acceptance of death. But I had them to love, and I wouldnt trade that for anything.</p><p>She has one remaining child, a daughter, Yolanda Boone.</p><p>Frances Fredericks said her son got nickname Chuck when he was a baby because he was chubby. He grew up in Gulfport. He moved to Atlanta more than a decade ago and worked as an electrical engineer at Tindall Corp. in Conley, Ga.</p><p>Survivors include his wife, Martiza Fredericks; three daughters and three grandsons.</p><p>Fredericks is the third child Frances Fredericks has lost. Her oldest son, Don, died in 1998 at age 43 after a massive stroke. Her youngest son, Alvin, was 25 when he died in a three-wheeler accident in 1984.</p><p>Her husband, the late Isiah Fredericks Sr., also a state representative, died of cancer in 1990. The Isiah Fredericks Community Center was named in his honor. She was elected later that year to fill his seat and has served in the Legislature since. She was re-elected Nov. 4 to another term.</p>
