RABBITTOWN - About two minutes proved to be the difference for East Hall in its 32-29 win over White County Friday night in Region 7-AAA.
The Vikings (6-3, 6-3) scored two touchdowns within a minute in the first half and then scored on their first possession of the second half to take what looked to be an insurmaountable 32-14 lead.
But the Vikings would go nearly 18 minutes without getting into White County territory and watching the Warriors nearly snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
White County quarterback Ryan Locklear threw two second half touchdown passes, and a two-point conversion, to get them within three points.
Travis Stephens, howver, saved the game for the Vikings sacking Locklear and snuffing out a late drive by the Warriors.
East Hall coach Tim Marchman it was not how he wanted to end the game.
"We had a big lead and then we kind of relaxed it looked like," Marhcman said. "We shot ourselves in the foot offensively most of the second half. We can't do that and beat the really good teams."
As inconsistent as the Vikings were in the second half, they were nearly flawless in the first half.
Patrick O'Neal and Keith McClary each capped long scoring drives with touchdown runs and Jamie Goss returned a kickoff 80-yards for a score to give East Hall a 20-14 lead.
Lee Coleman then hit Marquez Jackson on a 13-yard scoring strike to make it 26-14. Coleman now has 13 TD passes on the year and has thrown at least one in each game this season.
