Rivers named ACC offensive back of the week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Philip Rivers was named Atlantic Coast Conference offensive back of the week Monday after putting up big numbers in a win against Virginia.<br> <br> Rivers completed 29 of 34 passes for 410 yards and four touchdowns in the 51-37 win against the Cavaliers on Saturday. He completed his first 17 passes and became the first quarterback in league history to throw for more than 3,000 yards in three different seasons.<br> <br> Wake Forest had two players honored, with Mark Moroz being named offensive lineman of the week and Jyles Tucker earning top rookie honors.<br> <br> Other weekly winners included Duke&#39;s Matt Zielinski (defensive lineman), Florida State&#39;s Leroy Smith (defensive back) and Maryland&#39;s Nick Novak.<br> <br> Moroz was in on 61 of the Demon Deacons&#39; 67 offensive snaps in a 45-17 win against Clemson. He graded out at 90 percent with no missed assignments, and the team rushed for 321 yards.<br> <br> Tucker, a true freshman, stripped the ball from Charlie Whitehurst and returned the fumble 12 yards for a touchdown. The defensive end finished with two tackles, a pass break-up and a quarterback pressure.<br> <br> Zielinski had nine tackles in a 23-6 loss at Tennessee. The defensive tackle had four tackles for loss and two quarterback sacks.<br> <br> Smith had a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Seminoles&#39; 37-0 win at Notre Dame. He also had two tackles and two pass break-ups.<br> <br> Novak scored 15 points in the Terrapins&#39; 59-21 win against North Carolina. He was 3-for-3 on field goals connecting on kicks of 20, 24 and 46 yards and hit all six point-after attempts.<br> <br> He also put nine of 11 kickoffs into the end zone.
