Brenau announces 2003 alumni hall of fame inductees

GAINESVILLE - Gloria Cassity Stargel, a 1950 and 1977 graduate of Brenau Women's College and resident of Gainesville, was recently named as one of 10 inductees to the Brenau University Alumni Hall of Fame, 2003.

Stargel , author of "The Healing, One Family's Victorious Struggle with Cancer," is also contributing author of numerous stories, articles and magazines, including the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series. Her "Teacher at Last" story was selected by Chicken Soup editor for their 10th anniversary edition from among 8,000 published stories.

Her awards include 2002 Outstanding Alumnae Award for Professional Achievement, Brenau University ; the Award for Excellence in Christian Writing and was nominated Writer of the Year for five years by local writers clubs. She was also featured author of Tyndale House Publishers, 1983.

Other 2003 inductees include Georgia State Rep. Terry Coleman, EWC '81, of Eastman; Lee Anne Romberg White, WC'82, formerly of Gainesville and now of Cumming; Barbara Mitchell Disque, WC '53, of Atlanta; Sally Davidson Foster, A'55, of Spartanburg, S.C.; Margaret (Maggie) Garner Reisler, WC '45, of Melbourne, Fla.; Robert (Bobby) Ruble, EWC '84, of Central City, Neb.; the late Orville Tyler Schaefer, WC'30; Margaret Serrato, Ph.D., WC '77, of Atlanta; and Althea Lennox Tessier, Ph.D., WC '38, of New Orleans, La.

The Brenau University Alumni Hall of Fame honors those alumni who have made an outstanding contribution to their country, their state, their community and Brenau University.
