Knights finish fourth in AAA volleyball

ATLANTA - The Johnson Knights girls volleyball team had a lot of dragons to slay in its quest for a first state volleyball championship.

They got one but fell to the other Saturday in the Class AAA state tournament.

Johnson finished fourth after the smoke cleared, its best showing ever and two spots better than last year's sixth place.

The Lady Knights, who finished 29-8, opened with a tough loss to Savannah Christian but rallied to beat Villa Rica to set up their first battle with Grayson, who beat them in the Area 4-AAA tournament last week.

Johnson pulled out the win in four games and then faced its biggest challenge in host Lovett, a team team it had never beaten.

And Lovett kept it that way sweeping the Lady Knights out of the tournament.
