The award was presented at the National SAFE KIDS Campaign's 15th Annual Leadership Conference in Washington.

It is the most prestigious award organizations such as Gainesville/Hall County SAFE KIDS can receive.

Allison Wilson, coalition coordinator, was not available for comment Monday, but is quoted in a Northeast Georgia Health Systems newsletter, the Friday Flier, as saying "this award is a testament to the hard work that goes on every day by our members to reach children, parents and caregivers with injury prevention messages."

"They represent over 30 community agencies who, through the coalition, have come together to work toward a common goal," Wilson added. "That their work has been recognized as the best in the nation speaks volumes for their efforts."
