GAINESVILLE - Is the Lakview Academy girls basketball team ready to have a breakout year?

That's the indication around campus as the Lady Lions prepare to open their season Tuesday against Greenforest.

Eight of the top nine players on the roster are underclassmen and most got significant playing time last year in an 11-13 campaign that saw them fall just short of a playoff spot in the Region 8-A tournament.

Christi Thomas, a move-in from North Forsyth is the only senior among a group of six that can be mixed and matched in the starting lineup.

Juniors Hillary Stanford, Hannah Bennett, Emily Horne, Chelsea Chastain and Elizabeth Campbell could all get some starts this year.

Juniors Diana Briggs and Taylor Hein along with sophomore Danielle Pacual should also see plenty of action this year.

Among a tough schedule for the Lady Lions are Class AAA East Hall and the Lanierland Tournament, which features Class AAA pre-season No. 1 Gainesville. Buford and Athens Academy are also on the schedule.
