CHESTNUT MOUNTAIN - The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce is laying the groundwork for passage of the next Special Purpose Local Opton Sales Tax referendum.
The SPLOST V referendum is expected to be held in March.
Chamber Chairman Benny Bagwell said at Thursday's chamber board meeting at Eagle Ranch at Chestnut Mountain that a SPLOST V presention will be made December 9 to the chamber board and its Issues and Infrastructure committees. County Commission Chairman Gary Gibbs and County Administrator Jim Shuler will discuss the final SPLOST project list and "detailed costs."
"We're going to come back to this board in December (the 18th) and vote on whether we will be the marketing arm for the county to get that SPLOST passed through," Bagwell said.
"We're gearing up with committees...about raising money," added Chamber President and CEO Kit Dunlap, as she urged attendance at the December 9 meeting. "But (you) have to vote to support it and we want to support it, but we have got to understand it enough and be for it."
The chamber played an active role in promoting passage of each of the previous four SPLOST votes.
