JHS sweeps Habersham in season-openers

OAKWOOD - The Johnson boys basketball team opened a big lead and then held on in the fourth quarter to win its season-opener 101-91 over Habersham Central Saturday night.<br> <br> The Johnson girls won the first game 79-66 over the Lady Raiders.<br> <br> Johnson (1-1) survived a furious rally by Habersham (0-1). The Raiders, who trailed by as many as 23 points early in the fourth quarter, scored 32 points in the final period put could get no closer than the final score.<br> <br> Johnson&#39;s Marqise Wright led Johnson with 37 points. Habersham&#39;s Shea Allen also scored 37 points in the losing cause.<br> <br> Tarik Smith added 20 and Sam Greavu 16 for the Knights.<br> <br> Johnson, which was the last Hall County team to open its season, next will travel to Fannin County on Tuesday.<br> <br> In the girls game, Whitney Randolph got the season going strong for the Lady Knights with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.<br> <br> Sarah Lane led Johnson (1-0) with 25 points.
