Soon after, there could be a new veteran on the roster.
Hawks general manager Billy Knight will meet with San Antonio Spurs free agent Stephen Jackson Friday. The Hawks see Jackson as a perfect fit who could step into a starting job at the small forward spot left vacant by the trade of Glenn Robinson to Philadelphia.
The Hawks will open practice with Lee Nailon, who signed a one-year contract Tuesday, as the player most likely to join forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim and center Theo Ratliff in the starting frontcourt. Nailon spent last season with the Hornets and Knicks.
Jason Terry and Dion Glover return as the starting guards.
