GAINESVILLE - The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education (PIE) program experienced a major increase in participation this fall with the formation of 85 new school-business partnerships.
That brings to 207 the number of school-business partners.
Only one school, Chestatee Middle, remains without a partner.
This year, Steve Syfan of Turbo Logistics is chairing PIE and is planning a networking event to share ideas and stimulate new incentives.
"Many of the current partnerships are working to address school needs and motivate students," said Syfan. "By bringing participants together, we can learn what's working best in these schools and assist in implementing successful programs into new school partnerships."
A Partners In Education Celebration will take place at the Burd Center at Brenau University on Wednesday, November 19 at 1:00 p.m. The theme of the event is "Share a Piece of Your PIE" and current partners will share their successes so all can learn and improve business/school programs. Potential partners and new partners will have the opportunity to obtain new ideas, and the event will include desert (pie) and coffee.
Partners in Education, a program of the Greater Hall Chamber, is a mutually supportive arrangement between a business/organization and a school. The primary goal is to strengthen and enrich instructional programs and enhance the educational experiences of students. PIE allows businesses the opportunity to contribute to the education of a well-trained future work force and provide students and teachers first-hand work exposure.
