Only four teams in northeast Georgia will be affected by the new realignment plan announced Monday by the Georgia High School Association (GHSA).
The GHSA made its announcement Monday after listening to dozens of appeals, mainly from metro Atlanta schools.
East Hall is the only Hall County team will be changing regions when the new 2004 realignment takes affect.
East Hall, the smallest school in Hall County, is moving down to Region 8-AA with the likes of Buford and Greater Atlanta Christian, who played for the Class AA state title last year.
The Vikings had been playing Region 7-AAA the last two years.
The other six public schools in Hall County, including Gainesville, will remain in Region 7-AAA along with Fannin County, Pickens County, Gilmer County and neighboring White County.
Apalachee in Barrow County will be moving up to Region 8-AAA after being in Region 8-AA the last two years. Winder-Barrow will be moving down to Region 8-AAA from Region 8-AAAA.
South Forsyth will make the big jump to Region 7-AAAAA from Region 6-AAAA. The War Eagles will now be in the same region with nearby Collins Hill, North Gwinnett and the north Fulton County schools of Che=attahoochhe and Centennial.
