Pittman has surgery on left knee

OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI - Mississippi running back Jamal Pittman had successful reconstruction surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Wednesday.<br> <br> Ole Miss athletic trainer Tim Mullins said the surgery revealed no additional damage.<br> <br> Pittman was injured against Arkansas State when he was hit while diving for the end zone at the end of a 15-yard run.<br> <br> The redshirt freshman is out for the season.<br> <br> Pittman had a similar injury to his right knee in the spring.<br> <br> ``We&#39;re looking at basically the same format when it comes to Jamal&#39;s latest rehabilitation,&#39;&#39; Mullins said. ``He&#39;s in good spirits and ready to begin his rehab on Thursday.&#39;&#39;<br> <br> Pittman missed the season opener, but played in five games. He is fourth on the team in rushing with 214 yards on 42 carries with one touchdown.
