ATLANTA - For the second straight week, Atlanta Thrashers forward Ilya Kovalchuk has been named the National Hockey League's Offensive Player of the Week.<br>

Kovalchuk recorded his second hat trick in six days and led the Thrashers with seven points in three games. He recorded the hat trick in a 4-to-2 win over Nashville Thursday.<br>

Kovalchuk joins Pittsburgh's Mario Lemieux (1992-93) as the only players to open the regular season with consecutive Player of the Week honors since the award was established in the 1980-81 season.
