EHHS band director resigns

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - The band director at East Hall High School has resigned in the wake of allegations of impropriety involving a former East Hall student.

Hall County School System officials say Kelly Anderson cited "personal reasons" in stepping down on Tuesday.

They say last week, East Hall Principal Bill Sloan received information from "members of his community" suggesting that there may have been questionable conduct involving Anderson and a former East Hall student.

Dr. Sloan informed the Superintendent's Office of the allegations, and an immediate investigation was launched.

Before the investigation had been completed, school system officials say, and any final conclusions drawn, Anderson contacted Dr. Richard Hill, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, to announce his intention to resign his position. In the written statement prepared by Mr. Anderson, he cited personal reasons for tendering his resignation.

Anderson is no longer working in the Hall County School System in any capacity, according to school officials.

Dr. Sloan told band members of the development Wednesday afternoon. Craig Cantrell, Associate Director of Band, will replace Anderson.
