Buford knocked around by Pike County in AA playoffs

COLUMBUS - After storming through the North Sectionals of the Class AA tournament last week, the Buford girls softball team fell back down to Earth Thursday in the State Tournament.<br> <br> Pike County whipped the Lady Wolves 4-1 in the opening round. Buford will now have to win six games to capture the title.<br> <br> Buford will play Jeff Davis at 9 a.m. Friday in the first elimination game. They have to play against 1 p.m. and then at 7 p.m. to keep advancing.<br> <br> Pike County did not stop at Buford in knocking around Region 8-AA teams. The Lady Pirates shut out Greater Atlanta Christian 2-0 to advance to to the semifinals.<br> <br> Class AA No. 1 Morgan County, the defending Class AA champ, advanced to the semifinals with a 5-0 win over Irwin County and then a 6-0 win over Tri-County.<br> <br> GAC will play the winner of the Irwin County-Union Grove game at 1 p.m.
