BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - Former CBS head executive Thomas H. Wyman has died at age 73.
Wyman led CBS as chairman for three years, after serving as the network's president and chief executive officer since 1980. But CBS suffered from stagnant advertising revenues and declining ratings during Wyman's tenure. And he was ousted in 1986 in a management shakeup.
Wyman more recently made headlines last month when he quit the Augusta National Golf Club because it doesn't admit women. He called the Georgia golf club's stand ``pigheaded.''
He died Wednesday at Brigham and Women's Hospital, according to a statement issued today for his family. He had undergone surgery December 15 for an abdominal infection.
