Georgia man returned to N.H. to face murder charges

By
CONCORD, N.H. - A Georgia man accused of killing a New Hampshire infant almost 20 years ago was due in court Friday.

George Knickerbocker had been a suspect in the death of 6-week-old Adam Robbins when the baby died in 1983 but wasn't charged until last December, when he was arrested in Rossville, Ga.

Authorities reopened the investigation in 1997, after the baby's mother wrote to prosecutors about the case. She later told police that Knickerbocker confessed that he ``lost it'' and injured the child.

Knickerbocker, who called himself Nicky Robbins at the time, was dating the baby's mother. Court documents unsealed Thursday allege that Knickerbocker initially told police that the baby's two-year-old brother hit the infant, then blamed the death on the boy's mother.

Knickerbocker will be arraigned in Concord District Court.
