Valley basketball, volleyball player wounded in nightclub shooting

ITTA BENA, MISSISSIPPI - A nightclub security guard is in jail following a shooting at Mississippi nightclub that left one man dead and three wounded, including two Mississippi Valley State University athletes. <br> <br> Volleyball player Danielle France of Decatur and basektball player Michael Archie of Greenwood, Mississippi, were wounded around 1 a.m. Sunday in Lefore County, Mississippi. <br> <br> Twenty-year-old Archie was hit in the side by a stray bullet as he tried to leave the club. The bullet caused a spinal cord injury that has apparently paralyzed Archie from the waist down, according to his mother. <br> <br> France was hit in the shoulder and was treated and released from a hospital. <br> <br> Another victim -- 25-year-old Toland Hudson of Itta Bena, Mississippi -- was treated for a gunshot wound to the hip and is in good condition. <br> <br> Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks says a volley of gunshots were fired inside the nightclub after a fight broke out. <br> <br> Banks says 27-year-old Alonzo Hemphill reportedly forced his way into the club at gunpoint. He was hit by at least four bullets and died after allegedly firing at least two gunshots toward the dance floor. No gun has been recovered. <br> <br> Sheriff&#39;s deputies arrested club security guard -- 35-year-old Johnny King -- on a murder charge, though Banks says no one is certain who fired the bullets that hit the three who were wounded. King was ordered held without bond.
