MABLETON - A small plane crashed into the back yard of a suburban Atlanta home Tuesday, injuring a man and his 12-year-old son who were aboard the aircraft but no one on the ground, authorities said. <br>

The single-engine, four-seater Piper Cherokee was trying to land at Fulton County Airport just across the Chattahoochee River in Atlanta when it went down about 5:30 p.m. between Mableton and Austell northwest of the city. <br>

The father and son were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious head injuries, officials said. Their identities were not released. <br>

Investigators said they found ticket to the Peach Bowl, featuring Tennessee and Maryland, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The plane was registered to the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Fund for Fort Meade, Md. <br>

Cobb County fire Lt. Dan Dupree said the plane may have been low on fuel because ``there was no fuel on the ground.''
