GPD retirement, promotions

GAINESVILLE - A veteran of the Gainesville Police Department is retiring.

Lieutenant Donnie Lyle has spent more than 24 years with the department and most recently served as a watch commander in theUniform Patrol Division.

At the same time, announcement was made of the promotions of two officers.

Sgt. Brian Kelly, who has been with the department more than six years, has been promoted to Lieutenant, and will be assigned as a patrol division watch commander.

Cpl. Nina Harkins, another six-year veteran of the department, has been promoted to sergeant in the patrol division.
