ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE - Two Robins Air Force Base units 5th Combat Communications Group and the 116th Air Control Wing - received deployment orders Thursday to an undisclosed location.
Base officials, citing security concerns, declined to state how many personnel would go or when they will be leaving.
The 5th, a tenant unit at Robins that's under the control of the 9th Air Force at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., provides secure communications, air traffic control and weather services.
The 116th is the only Air Force unit equipped with the E-8C Joint STARS ground surveillance aircraft that can pinpoint ground targets over a vast area and deliver data immediately to combat commanders.

The 116th became the Air Force's first ``blended wing,'' on Oct. 1, combining active-duty troops and members of the Georgia Air National Guard.
Lt. Col. John LaBuda, 116th spokesman, said he was not certain if Guard members would be included in the Air Force deployment.
