FLINT - Former football star Andre Rison is named in a warrant accusing him of failing to pay child support.
Court records indicate the 35 year old Flint native owes his ex-wife Tonya about $68,500 in support for their teenage son.
Rison is a former Flint Northwestern High School standout, who went on to star at Michigan State and played for seven National Football League teams. He now lives in Georgia.
Felony non-support is punishable by up to four years in prison. The charge usually is dropped if the parent arranges to pay the debt.
Rison's attorney told a judge in November that his client has had no income since 2000, when he played for Oakland. The Raiders let him go after that season.
The Genesee County Friend of the Court has a lien on Rison's NFL pension. In May, a judge named a receiver to seize Rison's property as part of efforts to collect child support from him.
Rison ranks 14th on the NFL's all-time receptions list and is 17th in receiving yards. He was the MVP of the 1994 Pro Bowl.
