FAYETTEVILLE - One of 19 true daughters of the Confederacy and the oldest living in Georgia has died. Lizzie Brown was 111. <br>

Her daughter, Willette Brown says gerontology researchers claimed she was the oldest living Georgian who could prove her age. <br>

She died Friday at her home in Fayetteville, 21 miles south of Atlanta. <br>
<br>
When Lizzie Brown was born in 1891, the average U.S. life expectancy was 45. Her father, Pleasant Marion McEachern, fought in the Civil War as a 16-year-old. <br>
<br>
She attended State Normal School now the University of Georgia and was the only teacher for seven grades and 45 students in a one-room schoolhouse in Ebenezer. <br>
<br>
Brown, an accomplished quilter, also spent her days with housework and yard work. She cooked and enjoyed sharing flowers. Her first airplane trip was at age 85 and her first hospitalization was at age 99 for a broken leg.
