ATHENS - No one in Athens is sure what to expect of political newcomer Heidi Davison when she's sworn in a mayor of Athens-Clarke County Tuesday.
The former schoolteacher beat incumbent Doc Eldredge in September as voters embraced her fresh approach to politics. While supporters have praised her idealism, opponents have criticized her inexperience.
Davison tells the Athens Banner-Herald that she's told people even she doesn't know what kind of mayor she'll be. She says that with any new job ``there's always something there to learn and to grow into.''
Voters embraced Davison's message of open government and slowed growth. She says she's not against development but that business interests should not take precedence over the well-being of the community.
