NEW YORK, NEW YORK - A lawsuit filed against the New York Post by the parents of JonBenet Ramsey has been settled, the two sides said Wednesday, but the terms were not made public.
``The action has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties,'' Post spokeswoman Suzi Halpin said. She said the agreement with the Ramseys precluded any other comment.
The Ramseys' attorney, Lin Wood, confirmed a settlement but would not disclose the terms. He said the agreement had been reached a couple of months ago, but was finalized in the past few days.
John and Patsy Ramsey filed suit against the paper in May 2000, alleging the newspaper libeled their son Burke by portraying him as the prime suspect in his sister's murder. The boy was 9 at the time of the killing.
The suit sought $4 million from the Post. At the time, the paper said the case was frivolous.
JonBenet, 6, was found beaten and strangled Dec. 26, 1996, in the basement of the family home in Boulder, Colo. The Ramseys later moved to Atlanta, and the killing remains under investigation.
