``I think we knew after the first six or eight minutes that we were going to win the game, but it was just going to be how we were going to win it,'' Brady said. ``I told our guys that the effort was fine, but our execution, finishing our defensive possessions, and our execution on offense was really rushed.''
The Tigers, winners of 45 straight non-conference games at home, had little trouble against the overmatched Cougars.
``They wore us down,'' said Houston coach Ray McCallum. ``They did a good job of mixing things up and keeping us off balance.''
``That's the story of our team right now,'' Dupree said. ``We're not shooting the ball well from the perimeter I assume guys will keep playing us in a zone.''
Houston (2-9) stretched its losing streak to six games. The Cougars shot only 36 percent from the field (17-47) and made 4-of-14 3-pointers. Houston out rebounded the Tigers 38-27.
The Tigers took a 12-5 lead with 14:48 remaining in the first half, then did not score again until Temple slammed in a basket at the 10:16 mark that made it 14-7. Temple missed the follow-up free throw.
