Travis Jones is new assistant coach at LSU

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA - Former Georgia defensive lineman Travis Jones has been named an assistant football coach at Louisiana State. <br> <br> Jones will work with the defense at LSU. He joins the staff after serving as an assistant coach at Kansas for the past two years. <br> <br> Prior to his two-year stint at Kansas, Jones spent three years as linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at Appalachian State. <br> <br> Jones began his coaching career at Georgia in 1997, coaching the defensive line for the 10-2 Bulldogs. <br> <br> Jones, who graduated in 1995, started at defensive end at Georgia his last two seasons and as a senior, he was selected the defensive team captain. <br> <br> Jones was selected by the Baltimore Stallions in the 1995 Canadian Football League draft. He played one season in the CFL and then joined the Florida Bobcats of the Arena League for one year in 1996.
