Tennessee policeman charged by Georgia sheriff with child molestation

EAST RIDGE, TENNESSEE - The sheriff&#39;s office in Catoosa County has filed child sex charges against a police officer in neighboring Tennessee. <br> <br> A department spokesman for the East Ridge police department said Wednesday the Catoosa County sheriff&#39;s office has charged Officer Keith Maynard with child molestation and statutory rape. <br> <br> The allegations involve Maynard and a 15-year-old girl in the Explorer post chartered by the East Ridge police. Exploring is a career exploration program of the Boy Scouts of America. <br> <br> Authorities say most of the acts with which Maynard is charged allegedly occurred in Catoosa County, just across the state line from Hamilton County, Tennessee, where East Ridge is located. <br> <br> The Hamilton County prosecutor and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are also investigating the case.
