Giants sign Moss, avoid arbitration

SAN FRANCISCO - Left-hander Damian Moss and the San Francisco Giants avoided salary arbitration Thursday by agreeing to a one-year, $1.55 million contract. <br> <br> The Giants acquired Moss from Atlanta on December 17 along with a minor leaguer in exchange for right-hander Russ Ortiz. <br> <br> Moss went 12-6 with a 3.42 ERA in his rookie campaign for the Braves last season. He made $215,000 last season. <br> <br> Moss, an Australian, is expected to take Ortiz&#39;s spot in the N.L. champions&#39; rotation.
