ATLANTA - Hospital officials say a woman and her seven-year-old son are in good condition after being attacked by dogs at their home. <br>

The woman and child - whose names have not been released - were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital following the attack at a northeast Atlanta apartment. Police responded to a call from neighbors around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. <br>

The boy told police that the dogs - believed to be pit bulls - turned on them when his mother tried to discipline one of the animals after it had soiled the carpet. <br>

Police shot and killed one of the dogs at the scene; another was wounded. <br>
<br>
It's the second dog attack in the Atlanta area this week. <br>
<br>
On Monday, a 52-year-old Norcross woman was mauled to death by dogs in her bedroom. Animal control officials removed seven dogs from the home in Gwinnett County.
