JONESBORO - The Clayton County School Board meets again Wednesday night to discuss possible resolutions to firing Superintendent Dan Colwell.
The school board voted a week ago to dismiss Colwell from his position, but reversed its decision Friday night and suspended him with pay.
Colwell has filed a lawsuit at the Clayton County Superior Court, saying the board's vote was not on the agenda and is therefore illegal.
His attorney George Brown says the future of the lawsuit depends on the outcome of Wednesday night's board meeting. Brown says he hopes the board will reach a positive resolution.
Colwell says that he is not satisfied with being suspended with pay. The board has released its reasons for dismissing the superintendent only to Colwell.
Superior Court Judge Deborah Benefield is scheduled to hear Colwell's case against the school board Thursday to determine whether it will move forward in court. That hearing had been scheduled to be held Tuesday, but it was rescheduled after the school board decided to meet again.
