Savannah councilman admits drinking before fatal crash

SAVANNAH - A Savannah city councilman recovering from a crash that killed a woman admits he drank alcohol before getting behind the wheel. <br> <br> City Alderman David Jones says he had ``a couple&#39;&#39; of drinks before driving. But he says he wasn&#39;t intoxicated and the crash was not his fault. <br> <br> Jones was driving home late Monday when his pickup truck crashed head-on with another car on a two-lane road. The impact killed the second driver -- 45-year-old Ola Brown of Savannah. <br> <br> Jones maintains that- he stayed in his lane and the Brown&#39;s car veered toward him. <br> <br> Savannah police Lieutenant Jimmy Stevens has said alcohol may have been involved. <br> <br> No charges have been filed by police. Police say toxicology tests on blood samples from both drivers -- required by state law in serious crashes -- may take a month or longer.
