ATLANTA - Another blast of cold air is expected to pass through Georgia this weekend. But forecasters say temperatures won't be nearly as low as they have been the last few days.
Still, homeless shelters, public officials and farmers were prepared for the worst.
In Savannah, police handed out long johns, blankets and shoes to homeless people Friday. In Dougherty County, school officials canceled classes. And farmers in South Georgia say it'll be days before they find out the extent of the freeze damage to their vegetable crops.
Low temperatures in the Atlanta area are expected to creep up into the 15- to 20-degree range Saturday -- up from lows in the single digit range Friday night.
A storm system passing through the state Sunday will bring more cold air early next week with a chance of snow in northern Georgia.
But meteorologists say it's expected move through quickly, and then the weather should start to get warmer.
