Sailor accused of molesting two boys on base

WOODBINE - A sailor from Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base has been arrested on multiple charges of child molestation -- the second Kings Bay sailor to be accused of child molestation in the past several months. <br> <br> Twenty-three-year-old Petty Officer Third Class Vern Joseph Keith is charged with three counts of child molestation. He is accused of sexually abusing two boys, ages six and seven, at the base, and giving them gifts for not telling anyone about the abuse. <br> <br> William Terrell of the Camden County Sheriff&#39;s office said Keith was arrested September third and is being held at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station in pretrial confinement. <br> <br> The other Kings Bay sailor, 36-year-old Petty Officer First Class Elloy Torrez Gutierrez, pleaded guilty last week to 12 counts of child molestation and one count of sodomy. <br> <br> Gutierrez will be sentenced after a presentencing investigation is completed in three months, prosecutors said. <br> <br> In April, 26-year-old former Kings Bay sailor George Calvin Davis was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges of child molestation and child exploitation.
