VALDOSTA - Authorities say a Georgia man has been charged with practicing psychiatry without a license in Florida.
Police in Jacksonville, Florida, say 33-year-old Anthony Johnson of Valdosta offered family and marriage counseling services at the Theocentric Psychological Christian Counseling Center for at least six months in 2001.
Authorities were notified after someone questioned Johnson's credentials, which were listed on a Web site and in a telephone book advertisement.
Authorities will not say how many patients Johnson is believed to have seen. Police say Johnson could face up to a year in prison because impersonating a doctor is a felony.
Craig Aldrich is an investigator in the Florida Attorney's Office. He says he does not know of any pending investigations in Georgia or whether Johnson also has seen patients in this state.
