ATLANTA - The Atlanta FBI office planned to have more agents on duty Wednesday even before the announcement that the country's terrorism alert warning was being elevated.
FBI spokesman Jeff Holmes says the agency is going to increase its overall preparedness and be ready for anything that may happen on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks. But he says the FBI wants ``people to continue to do whatever they want to do'' today.
The administration announced Tuesday the level of awareness was being raised to ``Code Orange'' or ``high.''
Governor Barnes ordered Georgia's homeland security officials to mirror the national state of alert and put additional security at state buildings.
Georgia's 48 State Patrol posts also have been notified of the heightened state of alert, along with local police departments and other law enforcement agencies.
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority has canceled days off for its police until further notice because of the alert.
