New season on the horizon for Thrashers

ATLANTA - The Thrashers are opening training camp Thursday determined to make last season just a bad memory.

After a busy offseason, the Thrashers took care of their final piece of business yesterday and re-signed restricted free agent Milan Hnlicka. The Czech native agreed to a two-year, three million dollar contract.

The 29-year-old Hnilicka set franchise records and had career highs last season, including a .908 save percentage and a 3.18 goals-against average.

In 60 games, with 58 starts, he had 13 wins, and ten ties for the Thrashers. Hnilicka faced 40 of more shots a game an NHL-leading 12 times.

He also topped the league with 38 games of 30 or more shots faced while making 30 or more saves in a game 32 times and at least 40 six times.
