LAKE FOREST, ILLINOIS - Chris Chandler returns to the Georgia Dome on Sunday in a Chicago Bears uniform to take on the Atlanta Falcons.
Chandler was released by the Atlanta Falcons in February -- four years after he guided the team to its only Super Bowl appearance.

By releasing Chandler, the Falcons avoided having to pay his $5.8 million salary for this season and cleared out room under the salary cap. The Falcons also cleared the way for Michael Vick to take over as starter.

The Bears signed Chandler to a three-year, $4.5 million deal to back up Jim Miller.

This is the first time since 1994 Chandler hasn't been the starter going into a season. He has started 137 of the 158 games he's played in the regular season,
Chandler passed for 2,847 yards and 16 touchdowns last season, and had a QB rating of 84.1 while playing behind a line that yielded 41 sacks.
