Smith scored on three 1-yard runs, Tyrone Hall also had a 1-yard scoring run and Terrell Johnson scored on a 19-yard run for the Spartans (2-0). Johnson added 111 yards on 16 carries as Norfolk State rolled up 221 yards on the ground. <br>

Savannah State (0-3) managed just 204 yards of offense and turned the ball over six times, three on fumbles and three on interceptions. The Tigers' only score came on a 14-yard pass from Clyde Tullis to Ashley Sims with 4:13 remaining.
