Second worker dies after boiler explosion

By
ST. MARYS - A south Georgia paper mill worker who was burned in a boiler explosion in August has died.

Thirty-three-year-old Brad Foreman died Saturday from injuries he sustained when the boiler blew up at the plant for Durango-Georgia Paper Company in Saint Marys August 17.

The boiler was used to cook wood into pulp and produce steam used to dry paper. Another St. Marys man, 53-year-old John Stephenson died in September.

One other man remains in critical condition at the University of Florida burn center.

The company says the explosion had nothing to do with the company's decision last week to close the plant in mid-November. More than 900 employees will lose their jobs from the mill, which opened in 1941.

Federal investigators have not issued a report identifying the cause of the blast.
