County reports West Nile probable cause in death of Doraville man

ATLANTA - The DeKalb County Board of Health said Wednesday that an 82-year-old Doraville man who died on September 9 was a probable case of the West Nile virus. <br> <br> The board said the man&#39;s blood sample initialy tested positive for the virus at a private laboratory and tested positive at the Georgia Public Health Laboratory. <br> <br> The sample has been sent to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<br> <br> The director of the DeKalb County Board of Health, Doctor Paul Wiesner, said ``Even though this infection was acquired several weeks ago, we must remain vigilant. We know that the virus continues to be present in the community and that education, surveillance and monitoring of the virus is critical for preventing infections.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> It is the fifth death reported in Georgia from the West Nile virus this year.
