Edward Matthew Berger, 22, of Acworth, was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and kidnapping with bodily injury in the incident, sheriff's spokeswoman Nicole Ebbeskotte said Wednesday.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld by investigators, aided in her own rescue by calling 911 on a cell phone and helping direct rescuers to her location.
Warrants say Berger hit the victim, kicked her and cut her neck twice with a knife, causing three skull fractures and other injuries.
