Police spokesman Ray Dunlap says an officer was responding to a hit-and-run call about 12:30 p.m. Thursday when two men ran out of a nearby apartment. He says they had been fighting with a knife and both were wounded.
Backup police units arrived, and one of the suspects bit a 44-year-old sergeant as the officers tried to arrest him. Dunlap says the suspect was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with serious wounds to the stomach.
