Pitts calls debts exaggerated, pledges to pay

By
ATLANTA - Robb Pitts has discounted a lawsuit filed by four former campaign aides, who claim the ex-Atlanta City Council President owes them $137,000 for their work on his mayoral campaign.

Pitts said Thursday he will pay his old mayoral campaign debts but now has to concentrate on his campaign to land a seat on the Fulton County Commission. He refused to discuss the lawsuit further but said he would rely on fundraising in the name of his mayoral campaign to pay its debts.

Right now, he is raising money for his commission campaign, which cannot be used to pay off mayoral campaign indebtedness.

Melvin Collins, Mitzi Bickers, Joe Amos and Kimberly Daniels filed suit Wednesday, asking for the $137,000 that they say Pitts owes them for work and get-out-the vote money. The four are also seeking $1 million in punitive damages.
