MAGNOLIA, ARKANSAS - Torrence Jones rushed nine times for 70 yards and scored three touchdowns Saturday to lead Southern Arkansas to a 42-21 victory over West Georgia in both teams' Gulf South Conference opener. <br>

West Georgia (2-1, 0-1) scored first, on a 7-yard pass by Bo Bartik to Detronn Harris in the first quarter. <br>

SAU (2-1, 1-0) evened the score with a 9-yard run by Edwin Skipper with 5 seconds left in the period. <br>

West Georgia's Corry Strange took the lead back with a 17-yard pass play to Jesse Marinko, but SAU tied it again with a 12-yard run by Brandon Nightingale. <br>

SAU went in front on Jones' first TD, from the 15. <br>

West Georgia achieved another tie with Patrick Prince running the ball in from the 1, but that was the Braves' last score. <br>

The Muleriders got the win on two more scoring runs by Jones - from the 8 and the 15 - and a pass from Ted Williams to Jason Barnett, all in the final period.
