GAINESVILLE - For the second consecutive weekend, heavy rains came to northeast Georgia, and September is turning out to be the wettest month of the year so far in Gainesville.
Gainesville recorded slightly over 3.75 inches of rain between Friday morning and Sunday night.
Just a week ago, weekend rains dumped about 3.30 inches of rain on Gainesville.
For the month of September, almost 8.25 inches have been recorded. That's more than June, July and August combined. Rainfall for those three months totaled only 6.04 inches. It is also the most for a single month since March when more than seven inches fell.
